The Eloise of Ladram
Eloise of Ladram is a Rodman 1250 sports cruiser built in 2006, licensed to carry 12 persons - 10 passengers plus 2 Crew. Built in Spain, the 1250 is one of the most recognisable sports fishing boats used in the Eastern Atlantic big game fisheries. Powered by Twin 400hp Volvo engines she has a great turn of speed. We cruise to the fishing grounds at 20kts with ease with much more in reserve if required. The large (heated in winter) saloon has comfortable seating for all. There is also a galley, coffee machine, kettle and roomy electric flush head. Up top there is a large fly bridge area, perfect for spotting Tuna or just enjoying the sun when the weather allows.
Eloise’s electronics have been extensively upgraded over the winter of 2022/23 with addition of 2 Furuno TZT12F multi function displays and a new 1kw Airmar transducer providing the sharpest imagery out there. When the Tuna aren’t showing themselves on the surface this equipment will find them in the depths!
Fully certified by the MCA in 2022, Eloise carries all the necessary safety equipment to work offshore including Liferaft and Epirb.
There is no denying AFBT are one of the hardest fighting fish in our oceans, their huge size, muscular bulk and speed tests tackle to the absolute limit. Fishing for Giant Bluefin Tuna requires the strongest tackle, highest quality rods, reels and lines. We predominantly fish using trollingtactics (fishing as the boat is moving along) using a variety of methods and end tackle arrangements. To this end the vessel requires Outriggers. These long poles help keep the lines out of the water and increase the spread of our lures covering more water and allowing us to turn quickly on to busting fish.
With the new CRRF Fishery in 2024, we are no longer required to only troll spreader bars. We can now offer live bait fishing and casting poppers and stickbaits using heavy spin tackle for these magnificent fish. Rob and Eloise held the only ‘popping license’ in 2023 so have a head-start on this method.
Eloise is fitted with a full set of US built, Rupp Tournament Pro outriggers and kitted with the finest rods and reels available. We have two full sets of gear allowing us to switch between Chair and Stand Up fishing quickly and easily. Our Rods are custom built by Dean Farley of Legacy Custom here in the UK and matched to either Shimano Tiagra or Talica Reels.
Our end tackle and components are sourced from Tuna Tackle and Leadertec in the UK and the world leading Melton Tackle in California. Everything is rigged onboard so we can ensure the integrity of the most important part of the equation….the end tackle!
